Cricket Betting at taka — Complete Guide to T20, ODI and Test Betting
Betting markets for BPL, IPL and international cricket, how to read odds, and live in-play betting — all in one place at taka's cricket section.
The Three Cricket Formats and Bangladesh's Favourite Competitions
To understand cricket betting, it helps to first have a clear picture of the three main formats.
T20: With just 20 overs, runs come quickly and wickets can fall suddenly — so odds shift in moments. League tournaments like BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) and IPL use this format. From Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka to fans across the country, BPL matches generate huge excitement. On taka's platform you can join live markets while a T20 match is in progress.
ODI (One Day International): In a 50-over match the innings structure is larger — team tactics and late-innings aggression combine to create more varied markets. The T20 World Cup and ICC tournaments produce the biggest ODI betting markets.
Test Cricket: A five-day contest — draws are possible, so Test matches have markets for three results (win/loss/draw), which makes them different from T20 and ODI. Pitch and weather conditions play a big role here.
For any international series featuring the Bangladesh Tigers — especially the T20 World Cup or Asia Cup — taka offers a wide range of betting markets.
Football and Other Sports — How They Differ from Cricket
Alongside cricket, taka also lets you bet on football. Football matches last 90 minutes, so results come faster — in-play markets stay active after every goal. In cricket, markets shift with every ball, over and wicket — that continuous movement is what makes cricket betting distinct.
Football always has three outcomes (win/loss/draw), but T20 and ODI cricket have no draw — only two results. This difference directly affects how odds are calculated.
Sports such as athletics, kabaddi and tennis are also available in taka's sports section, but cricket and football have the most markets and live odds.

Popular Betting Markets — How to Bet in Each Market
Match Winner
SimplestPicking which of the two teams will win. In T20/ODI it is Team A or Team B — two options. Example: Team A at odds 1.65, Team B at 2.30 — you place ৳500 on Team B, and if Team B wins you get back ৳1,150.
Toss Winner
Short-termA bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result does not depend on how the match unfolds, so it is straightforward but entirely luck-based.
Top Batsman
Skill-basedA bet on which batsman from a given team will score the most runs. Understanding batting order and pitch conditions gives you room to analyse this market.
Total Runs Over/Under
Score-basedWhether the total runs in the match will be above or below a set number. Example: over or under 160 total runs in a T20. If the pitch favours spin, the under is more likely.
Top Wicket-Taker
Bowling analysisA bet on which bowler will take the most wickets. Weighing pace versus spin, pitch conditions and the batting lineup makes this an interesting market.
Multi Bet (Multiple Selections)
Higher returnsCombining the results of multiple matches or events into a single bet. If 3 selections at odds of 1.60, 1.70 and 1.90 give a combined odds of 5.17, a ৳100 bet returns ৳517 — but if any one selection loses, the entire bet is lost.
Beyond these markets, taka also offers special markets such as first wicket to fall, runs in the powerplay, and player of the match.
How to Read Odds — Decimal, Fractional and American Formats
Betting odds are written in three different ways. taka generally uses the decimal format, but all three mean the same thing — the higher the number, the less likely that outcome is considered to be.
| Format | Team A win (less favoured) | Team B win (favourite) |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.50 | 1.50 |
| Fractional | 3/2 | 1/2 |
| American | +150 | -200 |
Example 1 (Team A, ৳200 bet):
Decimal 2.50 = Fractional 3/2 = American +150. If Team A wins you get back ৳500 (৳300 profit + ৳200 stake). If they lose you lose ৳200.
Example 2 (Team B, ৳200 bet):
Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200. American minus odds show how much you need to bet to win ৳100. On a ৳200 bet, if Team B wins you get back ৳300 (৳100 profit).
These examples are for illustration only — they are not actual odds or a guarantee of winning. Betting is for entertainment. Please follow the responsible gaming guidelines.
Live In-Play Betting — Odds Move with Every Wicket and Over
You can place bets even after a match has started — that is in-play or live betting. In taka's live betting section, odds update after every ball, so you can make decisions based on what is happening at that moment.
Say 2 wickets fall quickly in the first over of a T20 — the batting team's odds go up, meaning their chances of winning are now considered lower. Similarly, if runs come fast in the powerplay, the odds on the total runs "over" market come down.
In Test matches, in-play betting is a longer process — odds shift gradually based on pitch conditions, the chance of a draw and rain forecasts. In ODIs, if the Duckworth-Lewis rule is applied mid-match, live markets are adjusted accordingly.
Live betting requires quick decisions, so you can easily access live markets on your mobile through the taka App.
- When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds go up
- Fast runs in the powerplay bring runs-over odds down
- The required run rate in the final overs shapes the odds
- Rain or bad light may temporarily suspend live markets
- Making quick decisions is easier on mobile

Useful tips for cricket betting
- Choose markets based on the format: Total runs markets and individual performance markets are most active in T20; match winner and series result markets are most common in Test cricket.
- Set a budget: Decide in advance how much you are willing to spend for entertainment. Never bet more than that limit — betting is entertainment, not a way to earn income.
- Be careful with multi bets: Adding more selections increases potential returns, but losing even one loses the entire bet. Start with fewer selections to gain experience.
- Watch the pitch and weather: A spin-friendly pitch increases the chance of a low-scoring match; rain can shorten a game — these factors affect live markets.
- Read the rules: Understand the betting terms and the wagering requirements on bonuses before you start. Full details are on the Terms and Conditions page.
- 21+ age rule: Betting and casino services at taka are for users aged 21 and above only.
